How to do Ibiza on a Budget

18th October 2024

Ibiza has a stigma for being extremely expensive and impossible to step foot on without costing an arm and a leg. But, as experts of the island, we've got 6 very simple tips for keeping your expenses down while still maintaining your experience—after all, you've got to do Ibiza properly!

Disco Bus

An Island Legend

Unlike a lot of party resorts in Europe, the superclubs in Ibiza are dotted all around the island rather than just on one ‘strip.’

A taxi from San Antonio to Playa D’en Bossa (Ushuaïa & Hï Ibiza) will cost you around €35, which will start to add up during your holiday, especially if there are only 2 or 3 of you. Taxis can also be very hard to come by, and in peak season, you can be queuing for well over an hour, which is not what you need if you have an early entry ticket or are racing to see a particular DJ.

The Disco Bus is the perfect alternative and a reliable one at that. Running every 30 mins to all the major clubs on the island for €3-4 per journey and will also get you back home in the early hours of the morning too; the vibes definitely aren’t as high on that trip.

If you’re staying at Ibiza Rocks Hotel, the bus station is less than 10 minutes walk away.

Pre-Book Your Events

From Official Sites!

Now, we know many groups don’t like to have a strict itinerary and prefer to play their Ibiza trip by ear, taking it day-by-day. But if there are particular events that you know you want to attend, book them in advance!

The cheapest tickets will always be from the club’s official site, especially at launch, as you will often have the option for early bird and early entry tickets, which can be up to 3x cheaper than at the door.

For some of the bigger nights on the island, such as openings and closings, tickets may sell out before the doors even open. So, it’s really worth pre-booking, at least for one or two events, so you aren’t left disappointed.

Pre Drinks

Stock up early

The first thing you should do once you’ve checked into your hotel room, maybe even before that, is head straight to the nearest supermarket and pick up a big bottle of booze.

A big bottle might seem daunting, but trust us, you’ll get through it, as the drinks in Ibiza’s clubs are notoriously expensive. So, getting those balcony pre-drinks in (holiday highlight, by the way) and pouring yourself some journey juice (you can take them on the disco bus) is an absolute essential.

Supermarkets are also not allowed to serve alcohol after midnight, which is why you have to get the drinks in early. If you’re on a night flight, it’s worth checking duty-free to see what you can pick up.

Instagrammable Spots

Get the perfect pic

If you didn’t get a pic for the gram in Ibiza, then did you really go to Ibiza?

They don’t come any better than the sunset at Cafe Mambo, but Ibiza veterans will know that instead of dropping a hefty minimum spend on a table, you can pick up one or two tinnies from the local shop and sit on the rocks as the sun goes down.

Not only will you get that 10/10 pic, but it will also get you feeling all emotional and appreciative of what a magical island Ibiza really is.

From beautiful beaches to breathtaking sunsets, to secret hidden gems, other Instagram spots include Wiki Woo, Es Vedra, Beach Star, Amante, Formentera, Abandoned Festival Club, Sa Caleta, Cala D’en Serra.

Head to the beach

have a rest day

When you think of Ibiza, you probably don’t envision spending a day at the beach, as you’re likely to be pool partying or recovering from the night before. However, there are some truly stunning beaches within walking distance or a short taxi journey away.

Stop off at the supermarket beforehand and grab a packet of Lay’s, some aioli, and a bottle of Don Simon (all for less than €5), and that’s your food and drink sorted for the day!

If you’re staying in San Antonio, Cala Gracio, Playa es Pouet, or Cala Pinet are your best options. If you’re over in Bossa, there is a 3km long beach boasting turquoise waters as far as the eye can see.

Stay at Rocks!

We’re not one to toot our own trumpet, but Ibiza Rocks is the pinnacle of keeping a trip to the White Isle affordable. When you book a stay at Ibiza Rocks, you only have to pay a €60 deposit upfront, meaning you have more money in advance to pre-book your tickets to DC-10, Pacha, Hï, etc.
