Life of An Ibiza Worker: Reception Team

A summer spent in Ibiza is one packed with unforgettable moments. We caught up with Lili from our Reception Team at Ibiza Rocks, who has been with us for a number of seasons, helping to looking after our hotel guests from the moment they check-in to the hotel.

FIRSTLY, TELL US ABOUT YOUR ROLE AT IBIZA ROCKS…

The receptionist role is extremely diverse and great customer service skills are key! As a department that is here to assist guests 24/7, not only do we check guests in and out, but we are always on hand to deal with guest enquiries, requests & issues that may arise during their stay. To keep everything running as smoothly as possible, this means keeping in close contact with all other departments, especially Housekeeping, Maintenance and Reservations.

DESCRIBE YOUR SUMMER IN 3 WORDS…

WHY DID YOU WANT TO WORK FOR IBIZA ROCKS?

I’d already heard of the Ibiza Rocks brand back when I was living in the UK, so in summer 2018 when I saw they were looking for a hotel receptionist, I was immediately interested. Then from my very first interview, I knew there was a youthful and original vibe about the place that I felt a part of from the outset.

IN YOUR OPINION, WHAT’S IBIZA’S BEST HIDDEN GEM?

Around a 15/20 minute drive from Ibiza Rocks, the vantage point at Las Puertas del Cielo (The Gates to Heaven) offers the most breathtaking sunset views if you want a slightly less crowded alternative to Es Vedra or Benirrás for example.

One of my favourite events over the years has been Dance or Die at Ushuaïa. In 2019 I spent almost every Tuesday night at Bodyworks (Hï) and then recovered just in time for Dance or Die on a Wednesday afternoon…

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO SOMEONE APPLYING FOR A ROLE AT IBIZA ROCKS?

Whilst experience surely helps, remember it’s not the be-all and end-all. We value personality and above all, great customer service skills. (Language skills are always a help for the reception team too!) It sounds cliché but honestly, just be yourself and make sure your personality shines through.

WHAT’S BEEN YOUR FAVOURITE EVENT AT IBIZA ROCKS?

In my first few seasons I used to work Monday mornings but I’d always end the day down watching MK where there was always such a buzz!
