10. Big Shaq
2017
Kicking things off with arguably the funniest appearance ever in the booth. Big Shaq aka Roadman Shaq aka Michael Dapaah eventually released Man’s Not Hot and has amassed almost 300 million streams on spotify. He also came out to perform the official remix at #Merky Festival in 2018 alongside Lethal Bizzle, Chip and Fire in the Pool headliners Krept & Konan.
9. J Hus
2015
Pioneer of afroswing, J Hus made his first and only appearance on Fire in the Booth before the release of debut hit single ‘Lean & Bop’. Since then J Hus has became one of the faces of UK Hip-Hop & Rap, leaving fans itching for new music. No stranger to Ibiza Rocks with numerous apperances here to his name, including an announced set at Merky Fest in 2019.
8. Pop Smoke
2019
The late Pop Smoke broke out in 2019 and was seen as the future of urban music in America, being compared to the likes of 50 cent. Unfortunately there isn’t much footage of Pop Smoke performing so we’re thankful there’s this to demonstrate the level of talent he had and drill would not be the genre it is now without Smoke’s endorsement.
7. Drake
2018
Another name from across the pond and arguably the biggest artist in the world, swang by the 1Xtra studio to drop a freestyle for Charlie Sloth. Drake has never held back in showing love to UK Rap, having collabed with the likes of Giggs and Headie One. If you’re reading this Drake and fancy popping over to Ibiza this summer we’ve got a pool party just for you.
6. Stormzy
2014
We couldn’t have a UK Rap top 10 without including this man. After blowing up with YouTube freestyles, ‘Shut Up’, ‘One Take Freestyle’ & ‘WickedSkengMan’, Stormzy has gone on to headline Glastonbury and is now one of the UK’s most established artists. Big Mike is one of the most important acts in Rocks’ history, going from support to headliner within one summer, holding down a monthly residency and eventually curating 3 sold out Merky Festivals.
5. Giggs (Part 2)
2013
Artist behind the UK’s unofficial National Anthem, ‘Talkin the Hardest’. Giggs is doing UK Rap and has been doing UK rap for the longest with 4 appearances in Fire in the Booth to his name. When you feature on a Drake project and get to bring him out as a surprise special guest during your headline Reading set, you must be doing something right.
4. Kano
2016
Not many people have been repping UK Rap as long as Giggs, Kano is one of those people. Starting his career on pirate radio station ‘Deja Vu’ as part of N.A.S.T.Y. Crew. Numerous nomimations and awards later, many people will recognise Kano as ‘Sully’ from hit show ‘Top Boy’.
3. Krept & Konan (Part 2)
2012
Kings of the freestyle. Krept & Konan gained recognition way back when from uploading freestyle covers of ‘Otis’ Kanye West, Jay-Z and Adele. Of Krept & Konan’s two impressive appearances on Fire in the Booth, part 2 undoubtably hits hardest with The xx’s Intro as the instrumental. Although it was recovered over 10 years ago fans are still crying out for a part 3.
Catch Krept & Konan here at Ibiza Rocks every Thursday in September for Fire in the Pool alongside Charlie Sloth and special guests.
2. Wretch32 & Avelino
2015
There’s just something about ‘Intro’ by The xx and freestyle rap over the top, as Wretch32’s reindition takes our number 2 spot on the list. We certainly can’t forget about Avelino’s verse though which goes under the radar and the two together compliment each other perfectly. Wretch’s first appearance here was back in 2011 alongside Plan B and in 2018 headlined the Radio 1Xtra takeover.
1. Bugzy Malone (Part 1)
2015
Representing 0161 and to this day the most watched Fire in the Booth appearance with 30 million views on YouTube. Before the likes of Aitch, Geko & Meekz; Bugzy Malone was one of the first acts to break out of Manchester and is praised for being one of the key artists in the revival of Grime around 10 years ago.
Catch Bugzy Malone here at Ibiza Rocks on Thursday 10th August for Fire in the Pool alongside Charlie Sloth and special guests.
